Sonovis has no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. The books you open never leave your device.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no sign-up, no login, and no telemetry. We do not know who you are, what you read, or that you used the app at all.
Where your files go
PDFs, EPUBs, and text you open are processed entirely in your browser and stored on your own device. They are never uploaded. Reading position, library, themes, and voice settings are stored locally and are deleted when you clear the app's data.
Speech
Two options, both on-device:
- System voices use the speech engine already installed on your device. Some Android engines may process text in the cloud — that behaviour belongs to your device's text-to-speech provider, not to Sonovis, and you can check it in your system settings.
- Neural voices are downloaded once and then run entirely offline inside your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere during playback.
Translation
Translation runs on your device. The first time you choose a language, the model files are downloaded from Mozilla's public model repository — that request tells them a file was fetched, as any file download does. After that, translation works offline and no text you read is ever transmitted.
Group sessions
Sessions connect devices directly to one another. A signalling service is used only to introduce the two devices; the book text and reading position travel between participants and are encrypted in transit. Nothing is stored, and sessions vanish when you leave.
Donations
The support link opens PayPal. Any payment is handled entirely by PayPal under their own privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
Children
Sonovis collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
